The Intervention: Krishna arrived, asked for any leftover food, and ate a single grain of rice remaining in the pot. This act of divine satisfaction immediately filled Durvasa and his disciples as if they had eaten a massive feast, causing them to leave without causing trouble. 1. The Story of Kheer and the Boon of Vulnerability The Visit: Rishi Durvasa came to Dwarka as a guest. Krishna, showing the utmost respect, welcomed him and served him, sometimes acting as a servant. The Request: After eating a meal of Kheer (rice pudding), Durvasa instructed Krishna to apply the remaining Kheer over his entire body. The Omission: Krishna applied the kheer to his entire body but missed his feet (or the soles of his feet), considering them unclean or not meant to be covered in such a way. The Boon and Curse: Durvasa, seeing this, blessed Krishna that wherever the kheer was applied, his body would be invincible. However, he cursed him that since the feet were left untouched, that would be the spot of his vulnerability. The Result: This sets the stage for the end of Krishna’s earthly life, where he is killed by a hunter’s arrow to his foot. 2. The Story of Rukmini and the Separation The Incident: In another account, Durvasa demanded that Krishna and his wife, Rukmini, pull his chariot to their house in Dwarka. The Curse: During the journey, Rukmini felt thirsty and consumed water from the Ganges without asking Durvasa first.
